‘Wicked: For Good’ trailer released

Universal Pictures officially released the highly anticipated trailer for Wicked: For Good on Thursday, June 5, offering a deeper look into the sequel’s plot and music. Cynthia Erivo returns as Elphaba and Ariana Grande reprises her role as Glinda in the final chapter of the musical saga.
The trailer provides a glimpse into Elphaba’s life in hiding after the events of Wicked: Part I, as she is now demonized as The Wicked Witch of the West. Living in exile within the Ozian forest, Elphaba continues her fight for the freedom of Oz’s silenced Animals and aims to expose the truth about The Wizard (Jeff Goldblum).
Meanwhile, Glinda is depicted basking in fame and luxury at the palace in Emerald City, serving as a symbol of Goodness under the instruction of Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh). Despite her growing fame and plans for a wedding to Prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey), Glinda remains haunted by her rift with Elphaba. Her failed attempt to reconcile Elphaba and The Wizard only deepens their divide, with lasting consequences for characters like Boq (Ethan Slater), Fiyero, and Elphaba’s sister Nessarose (Marissa Bode. The arrival of a girl from Kansas, later revealed to be Dorothy Gale (whose face is teased but not fully shown, with no casting announced), further upends their world.
The footage is underscored by an emotional rendition of “For Good,” one of the most famous songs from the second half of the Broadway show, also featuring Erivo’s powerful vocals on “No Good Deed.” The trailer teases a more direct incorporation of elements from The Wizard of Oz, with glimpses of Dorothy alongside the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, Wicked: For Good is set to be released on November 21.
