Veteran showbiz columnist Lolit Solis dies at 78

MANILA, Philippines – Veteran showbiz columnist and talent manager Lolit Solis has passed away at the age of 78. Her death was confirmed by close friend and entertainment editor Salve Asis, who announced on Instagram that Solis died peacefully on Thursday, July 3.

The cause of her death was not disclosed.

Solis was a prominent figure in Philippine entertainment, widely recognized for her work as an entertainment news writer and talent manager. She gained significant popularity as a host of the showbiz talk show Star Talk, where she co-hosted with Boy Abunda and Kris Aquino.

Tributes quickly poured in from colleagues and personalities. Salve Asis’s Instagram post read: “Manay Lolit leaves behind a loving family and many friends who will always cherish her memory. We remember Manay Lolit as a feisty and staunch loyal supporter, manager, and friend. We love you, our dearest Manay, and you will forever be in our hearts.”

Actor Niño Muhlach also posted on Facebook, simply writing, “Paalam Nanay Lolit Solis.” Cavite Representative Jolo Revilla shared his condolences on Facebook, stating: “Rest in Peace Nanay Lolit Solis. Thank you for all your love and support to our entire family, especially to papa. Thank you for taking care of me when you stood as my manager when I was still an artist. We are deeply saddened by your passing. We will miss you nanay, we love you very much.”
