MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has extended its gratitude to the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for granting humanitarian pardon to 68 Filipino detainees.

The pardon was issued on the occasion of the Eid al-Adha celebration last month.

In a statement released today, July 29, 2025, the DFA highlighted this act as a reflection of the strong bilateral relations between the Philippines and the UAE.

The department described the gesture as a “generous and benevolent” act, and a “lasting gift to the families of the pardoned Filipinos.”
