Jollibee halts raffle promotion amid accusations of fraud
MANILA, Philippines — Fast-food giant Jollibee has come under fire following a raffle draw for its “Burger Blowout” promotion, as netizens accused the company of using fake names for its winners. The controversy erupted after Jollibee’s now-deleted Facebook post announced the Week 3 winners, whose names were deemed suspicious and a source of online ridicule.
Social media users were quick to point out the seemingly made-up or foreign-sounding nature of the names, with many speculating that they were generated by an AI or that Jollibee employees were winning the prizes.

In response to the backlash, Jollibee issued an official statement on Friday, August 15, acknowledging the public’s concerns. “We are currently reviewing the matter and are working closely with the Department of Trade and Industry, with whom we have been actively coordinating throughout the course of this promotion,” the company stated.
Jollibee also announced the postponement of succeeding raffle draws. “Please be assured that this will not affect previously declared legitimate winners, and we remain committed to ensuring that only valid entries are considered for raffle draws,” the company added, without directly addressing the accusations regarding the authenticity of the names.
Jollibee also reminded the public that raffle tickets are not for sale and should not be purchased from unauthorized sources.
