MANILA – The Philippines has no new active cases of avian influenza (AI), according to the latest report from the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI).
“No positive cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) were reported between May 17 and May 23, 2025,” the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) stated in its latest bulletin released Tuesday.
The Philippines currently has no ongoing HPAI cases, following the BAI’s completion of depopulation, disposal, and disinfection measures in the last affected site—duck farms in Mexico, Pampanga.
This intervention was followed by intensified surveillance conducted within a one-kilometer radius of the area on May 9.
“The last confirmed case of HPAI was recorded on April 30, 2025,” the agency noted.
That case involved the HPAI Type A Subtype H5N9, which was detected in duck samples collected in Camaligan, Camarines Sur.
The BAI confirmed that the outbreak was promptly contained and resolved.
