Netflix announces premiere dates for final season of ‘Stranger Things’

Fans of “Stranger Things” finally have a release schedule for the supernatural hit’s fifth and final season, and it’s coming in three parts, Netflix announced.
The highly anticipated final installment will premiere its “Volume 1” on November 26, 2025, followed by “Volume 2” on Christmas Day, and concluding with the grand finale on New Year’s Eve. These dates were revealed on Saturday during Netflix’s “Tudum 2025: The Live Event,” which also featured a performance by Lady Gaga.
Core cast members Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, and Finn Wolfhard appeared live at the event to reflect on nearly a decade of making the show since its 2016 debut, with Millie Bobby Brown and Gaten Matarazzo joining via video.
The announcement is a welcome one for viewers who have been eagerly awaiting the show’s return since Season 4 aired in 2022, introducing the terrifying Vecna. Production delays were partly attributed to the actors’ and writers’ strikes of 2023.
“Stranger Things” follows a group of teenagers and their families battling an unnamed evil from the “Upside Down” beneath their small Indiana town. The dark, retro-style series has been one of Netflix’s most-viewed and has garnered 12 Primetime Emmy Awards.
The cast also includes Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Joe Keery, Natalia Dyer, Matthew Modine, Charlie Heaton, Sadie Sink, Priah Ferguson, Joseph Quinn, and Maya Hawke. “Terminator” star Linda Hamilton was previously announced as a guest star for Season 5.
Filming for the final season began in 2024 and wrapped in December. Creators Ross and Matt Duffer shared earlier this year that they spent an entire year filming, accumulating over 650 hours of footage. Ross Duffer described it as “like eight blockbuster movies,” while Matt Duffer noted the intense and emotional filming process, marked by “so much crying” after nearly ten years of working on the show together.
