Magic land Desmond Bane in major trade with Grizzlies

The Orlando Magic have reportedly agreed to a significant trade with the Memphis Grizzlies to acquire dynamic guard Desmond Bane, according to multiple reports emerging today. In exchange, the Grizzlies will receive guards Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Cole Anthony, along with a substantial package of future draft picks.
The reported trade details are as follows:
Orlando Magic reportedly get:
- Desmond Bane
Memphis Grizzlies reportedly get:
- Cole Anthony
- Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
- Four future first-round picks (including the 16th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft; unprotected picks in 2026, 2028, and 2030)
- A 2029 first-round pick swap
Bane, a 6-foot-5 guard and the 30th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, has established himself as one of the league’s most consistent two-way players since his rookie season. Over the last four seasons, the 26-year-old has averaged 20.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.1 steals as a starter for Memphis, boasting an impressive career 3-point shooting percentage of 41%.
His arrival is set to bolster a young Orlando Magic squad, anchored by stars like Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, and Jalen Suggs. The Magic finished the 2024-25 season with a 41-41 record and enter the next season with heightened aspirations, with Bane providing much-needed offensive firepower and perimeter shooting.
Heading to Memphis is veteran guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, whose championship experience and well-rounded game are expected to complement Ja Morant and the Grizzlies. Memphis finished last season with a 48-34 record but was eliminated in the Play-In Tournament. Cole Anthony, the 15th pick in the 2020 Draft, also joins the Grizzlies, bringing solid playmaking primarily off the bench from his first five seasons.
This blockbuster deal marks one of the first major moves of the 2025 NBA offseason, signaling aggressive intentions from both franchises.
