Beyoncé’s Houston concert halted by mid-air stage malfunction

Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” concert in Houston was briefly interrupted by a technical malfunction that left the superstar dangling in a tilted car prop above the stage. The incident occurred during her performance of the song “16 Carriages” at NRG Stadium.
A video shared on social media captured the moment the red convertible, suspended by cables, began to tilt sharply mid-air with the 43-year-old singer seated on top. Beyoncé, appearing to be wearing a harness, was seen holding onto one of the cables as the car skewed.
“Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop,” the singer was heard saying into her microphone as the music abruptly cut out. Remaining suspended, she looked down at the crowd before smiling as they cheered. After a few seconds, still airborne, Beyoncé calmly addressed the audience, saying, “Thank y’all for your patience,” before the vehicle was slowly lowered to the center of the stadium. As the car neared the ground, it stabilized, and she shuffled back to her original seated position, smiling at the crowd as the lights dimmed.
Following the incident, Beyoncé briefly exited the stage before returning to complete her performance. Her company, Parkwood Entertainment, later issued a statement confirming a “technical mishap” caused the car to tilt. “She was quickly lowered and no one was injured. The show continued without incident,” the statement added.
This is not the first time Beyoncé has experienced a stage prop malfunction during her extensive touring career. Previous incidents include a robot missing its mark while pouring a drink and a moving platform breaking during her “On The Run II” tour in 2018, requiring her to climb down a ladder in full costume.
The Houston performance was the 23rd stop on her 32-show “Cowboy Carter” tour, which is set to conclude in Las Vegas next month. The three-hour production, known for its high energy and artistry, has consistently broken ticket records, including at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Stade De France in Paris.
