New PCO chief Dave Gomez asks political appointees to resign

MANILA, Philippines – Newly installed Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Dave Gomez has directed all “political appointees” within the agency to submit their courtesy resignations.
The PCO chief explained that this measure is “part of the standard transition process to request the courtesy resignations of all political appointees.” This directive comes as Gomez announced his intention to undertake a comprehensive performance audit of the entire agency.
Gomez stated that he has not yet named a new set of officers for the PCO, emphasizing the necessity of first conducting a “fair, honest-to-goodness and unbiased performance audit of the office.” While he did not set a specific timeline for the assessment, he described the process as “very urgent.”
Gomez recently assumed the post, replacing former PCO chief Jay Ruiz. He is the fifth press secretary to serve under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s term.
