Tropical Depression Crising is currently moving west-southwestward over the waters east of Catanduanes, as reported by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in its 5:00 PM bulletin on July 16, 2025.

As of 4:00 PM, the center of Crising was estimated approximately 625 km East of Virac, Catanduanes. The tropical depression maintains maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near its center, with gustiness reaching up to 55 km/h, and a central pressure of 1002 hPa. It is currently moving west-southwestward at 20 km/h, with strong winds extending outwards up to 280 km from its center.

Currently, no Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals (TCWS) are hoisted. However, PAGASA warns that Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 may be raised over portions of Cagayan Valley by tonight or early tomorrow (July 17). The possibility of hoisting TCWS No. 1 over Catanduanes is also not ruled out, especially if Crising maintains its westward movement or expands its radius. The highest potential Wind Signal that may be hoisted during Crising’s presence is Wind Signal No. 3 or 4.

Apart from the direct impact of Crising, the Southwest Monsoon is expected to bring strong to gale-force gusts, particularly in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds. These conditions are anticipated over Palawan, Siquijor, Bohol, Camiguin, Southern Leyte, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat Islands today. Tomorrow, July 17, the affected areas will expand to include Batangas, Quezon, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Visayas, Zamboanga del Norte, Camiguin, Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental. By Friday, July 18, the monsoon will bring strong gusts to Bataan, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Camiguin, Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental.

For coastal waters, mariners are advised to take precautionary measures. Up to rough seas (up to 2.5 m) are expected over the western seaboard of Palawan; the northern and eastern seaboards of Catanduanes; the northern and western seaboards of Zamboanga del Norte and Camiguin; the southern seaboards of Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Bohol and Southern Leyte; the eastern seaboards of Davao Region; and the seaboards of Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands. Up to moderate seas (up to 2.0 m) are forecast over the northwestern seaboard of Occidental Mindoro; the southwestern seaboards of Antique and Negros Occidental; and the eastern seaboards of Northern and Eastern Samar. Mariners of motorbancas and similarly-sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions.
