Two new tropical cyclones form: Dante becomes tropical storm, Emong a tropical depression

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced significant developments in its tropical cyclone monitoring as of 8:00 AM today, July 23, 2025. Two low pressure areas (LPAs) previously monitored within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) have intensified, forming new tropical cyclones.
Tropical Depression “Dante,” formerly identified as LPA 07g, has now developed into a tropical storm.
Concurrently, another weather disturbance, LPA 07h, also located inside PAR, has intensified and is now classified as Tropical Depression “Emong.”
Meanwhile, PAGASA continues to monitor LPA 07i, which remains outside PAR. This particular LPA currently has a “HIGH” potential of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
