Sara Duterte to skip SONA, cites being ‘triggered’ by Marcos’ words

Vice President Sara Duterte announced that she will not be watching President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) today, July 28, citing that his words can “trigger” her to the point of wanting to break her mobile phone.
Speaking before the “Bring Duterte Home Alive” rally at Marronnier Park in Seoul, South Korea, the Vice President responded to a crowd member’s query about watching the SONA. In Filipino, she stated, “What a waste of data. I don’t even want to watch it anymore. To be honest, I get triggered when I listen to him, because he irritates you so much that sometimes it’s beyond irritating. Sometimes it’s anger already and you want to break the screen of your cell phone.”
Duterte expressed her preference to simply read about the SONA later, to discern what she described as “lies” being told to the Filipino people. “I won’t watch, I’ll just read. We need to read to know what other lies are being said to the people, other lies that are being told,” she reiterated.
She anticipates that Marcos’s allies, gathered at the Batasang Pambansa complex, will applaud him for presenting positive images and numbers. However, Duterte asserted that these supposed developments are not felt at the grassroots level or within the homes of many ordinary Filipinos.
The Vice President concluded by stating that the people deserve a good government and should not settle for an “OK na yan” (that’s okay) level of service. “We deserve better,” she added.
