2028 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
Duterte, Go lead early polls for 2028 national elections

MANILA, Philippines – Vice President Sara Duterte and Senator Bong Go have emerged as the leading figures in early surveys for the 2028 national elections, according to a recent WR Numero Research poll conducted from July 29 to August 5, 2025. The survey indicates strong public support for both officials as potential candidates for the nation’s top two posts.
Vice President Sara Duterte currently holds a significant lead in nationwide presidential preference, securing 31.4% of respondents’ support despite facing various issues. Her regional backing is particularly robust in Mindanao, where she garnered 66% of preferences. She also recorded 31% in the Visayas and 19% in Metro Manila. In the rest of Luzon, Duterte attracted 18% of the vote, placing her second only to undecided voters in that region. Analysts note that her solid regional bases position her as a formidable early contender for the presidency.
Duterte’s closest rivals in the presidential race include former Vice President and current Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo, who polled at 13.3%, followed by Senator Raffy Tulfo with 10.3%. Senator Bong Go, while leading the vice-presidential race, also registered 6.5% in the presidential survey. Other notable figures in contention are Senator Imee Marcos at 4.4% and newcomer Senator Bam Aquino with 3.1%.
For the vice presidency, Senator Bong Go leads the pack with 16.2% of nationwide voter preference. This figure, however, reflects a 6.9-point decrease from his April 2025 survey results. His closest competitor for the vice-presidential seat is Senator Raffy Tulfo, with 14.9%. Following them are Bam Aquino (8.4%), Robin Padilla (7.7%), and Grace Poe (6.8%). Other prominent names in the vice-presidential survey include Chiz Escudero (5.9%), Imee Marcos (4.5%), and Risa Hontiveros (4.3%).
The WR Numero Research survey also highlighted a substantial pool of undecided voters, indicating that the political landscape for the 2028 elections remains fluid. Meanwhile, members of the opposition continue to focus on their official duties and committee chairmanships, emphasizing their commitment to project implementation for the benefit of the Filipino people.
