Digital National Senior Citizen ID launched for Filipino senior citizens

The Philippine government has launched a new Digital National Senior Citizen ID, a project developed in collaboration between the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) and the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT).

The digital ID is available via the eGovPH app. Senior citizens registered on the app will be automatically issued the digital ID, which they can use to access discounts and other privileges. This initiative is intended to provide an alternative to the physical process of obtaining an ID from government agencies.

According to the NCSC’s official announcement, the program aims to promote inclusive digital transformation and make the process of getting a Senior Citizen ID more efficient. The digital ID is also designed to reduce fraud and record duplication by linking with a verified digital identity from the National ID system.

The project is positioned as a means to provide access to government services for the country’s over 8.44 million registered senior citizens.
